🚆 How to Reach Gangasagar by Train

The easiest way to reach Gangasagar is by taking a suburban train from Sealdah Railway Station to either Kakdwip or Namkhana. Travel time is around 2–3 hours.

  • From Sealdah, board a Kakdwip‑bound or Namkhana‑bound local train.
  • Get down at Kakdwip (Lot‑8 Ferry Ghat) or Namkhana (direct ferry access).

🛳 Ferry Service – Lot‑8 to Kachuberia

After reaching Kakdwip or Namkhana, cross the Muriganga river via ferry. The most popular route is Lot‑8 to Kachuberia. Ferries run from early morning (5:00 AM) to late evening (8:00 PM).

  • Ferry crossing takes ~45 minutes.
  • Fares: ₹9–₹10 (extra for luggage/vehicles).
  • Delays possible during high tide or bad weather.

🚌 Bus & Road Options

Direct WBSTC and private buses are available from Esplanade/Howrah to Lot‑8. Shared autos operate between Kakdwip/Namkhana stations and the ferry ghats. Parking is available near Lot‑8 (limited during the Mela).

🚖 Kachuberia to Kapilmuni Temple

After crossing the river to Kachuberia, you need to travel around 30 km to reach the Kapilmuni Temple. Multiple options are available:

  • Shared Autos & Vans: Budget-friendly, available throughout the day.
  • Private Cars: Hire for comfort at Kachuberia.
  • State & Private Buses: Frequent during Mela season.
